The Institute of Masters of Wine came to us for a new look for the 2018 International Wine Symposium prospectus. Every four years the institute holds an International Wine Symposium. It is one of the most important events in the international wine calendar, attracting people from all over the globe. The institute asked us to produce literature that could be sent out to potential sponsors for the 2018 event.
They are unfairly seen in some quarters as being old-fashioned, stuffy, elitist, and very British. We wanted people to make the move away from this thinking. So we designed the pitch document to be open, friendly, modern, and international: inspirational and aspirational.
We achieved this by using a more modern combination of typefaces, influenced by the graphic language of wine casks. This was teamed with imagery of the spectacular landscapes and people involved in the previous events.
The pitch has been the most successful ever – although we cannot share the result.
The Institute of Masters of Wine has been promoting professional excellence and knowledge of the art, science and business of wine for over 60 years.
Master of Wine (MW) is a qualification issued by The Institute of Masters of Wine, and is the most prestigious title in the wine world. Its Membership encompasses winemakers, buyers, shippers, business owners, retailers, academics, sommeliers, wine educators, writers, journalists and more.
